The New Inn has been trading as a pub in Halse for 300 years, has been through four name changes, numerous owners, an 18th century facelift and now excitingly renovations in 2020 to celebrate its new life as a community pub.
Located two miles down country lanes off the A358 Taunton to Minehead road and surrounded by beautiful Somerset countryside, the New Inn is a perfect example of a friendly, quality English pub we all know and love.
There has been a pub on this site since 1691 but few years in its history have been as dramatic as 2020 when the village got together to save the pub which was facing closure and took it into a new era as a community pub.
Almost 200 shareholders helped raise the money through pledges to first buy and then renovate the pub interior, gardens and new look accommodation into what is a wonderful family pub offering great food and a warming fire to enjoy a drink next to. We of course welcome well behaved dogs to join in the fun! If you want to read more about the rules of the Community Benefit Society that was created to run the pub or get involved as a shareholder please click below to find out more.
Jake Wilde and Ellie Wakemen are a young but experienced team running the pub who are passionate for their attention to detail and personal touches.
Whether you are having a working lunch, a drink after work or an evening out, there is a part of the pub that will suit you
We believe that everyone should be treated as a friend – and in our pleasant, informal setting, be served the best food we can produce.
